Veloped User Guide

Trionic Veloped

The Veloped has a unique 3-wheel design, but as you can see it has in fact four wheels. It’s aimed to be used as a walking aid, especially for people with the desire to be physically active outdoors. Developed with a focus on walking and facilitating access for the user, the Veloped is one of a kind. Its main characteristic is a dual front wheel with the capacity to overcome obstacles up to 15 cm high (14" wheels). The force required to overcome a smaller obstacle is also greatly reduced, when compared to a traditional wheel. The 3-wheel design, coupled with the front wheel’s suspension and the air-filled tyres, increases both comfort and accessibility on all uneven surfaces.

The Veloped is tested and approved according to the international standard ISO-11199-2:2005, for a maximum user weight of 150 kg.

Safety

  • Both brakes should be locked in parking mode before you use the seat.
  • Before you start walking with the Veloped, make sure it’s completely unfolded.
  • Be extra careful in steep terrain and on slanting ground.
  • The stability of the Veloped is tested with a basket load of 5 kg. If you load additional weight to the basket, make sure to distribute the weight evenly in the basket.

Correct Grip Height

How to set the correct height of your Veloped

Many rollator users set the grips too high, thinking that it will promote a more upright posture. But this actually worsens the posture, and it affects the stability negatively.

You can determine the correct Veloped grip height by doing as follows, as recommended by all physiotherapists and all rollator manufacturers:

  1. Stand upright with your back as straight as possible, with your shoes on and with your arms hanging in a relaxed state along your body (elbow slightly bent).
  2. Measure the vertical distance from the floor to the wrist bone = recommended grip height.

With the grips at wrist height:

  • You do not have to raise your shoulders, and you can unload a greater part of your body weight.
  • You can walk closer to the hand grips, which results in a more upright body posture.
  • A more vertical weight distribution (downwards) improves both the stability and the brake performance.

Change Front Wheel Setting: Easy-steering mode/Lower position:/Direction-steady mode/Upper position:

The wheel has two different settings: one for easy steering and one for direction-steady mode. There is an adjustment handle on the front wheel, placed between the wheels, that can be shifted between these two settings.

Easy-steering mode/Lower position::

Offers easy turning with retained climbing capacity.

Direction-steady mode/Upper position::

Offers increased climbing capacity, suspension on uneven surfaces and a higher directional stability. The Veloped is more difficult to steer, but it performs better off-road.

I searched for a long time and found the…
I searched for a long time and found the right one. I also had a great consultation with the German branch in Hamburg, and then I was sure. With this walker, I can still walk safely in the forest, despite the often difficult uneven terrain, without much effort. It's so easy to steer, which is a good thing. The wheels, because they're so large and have a lot of grip, don't spin, and when you brake, it stops immediately. It's also a great vehicle on vacation, at the beach; it grinds effortlessly through the sand, simply fantastic. The seat is okay with an extra removable pad for washing...it comes with a backpack and a small suitcase for food, drinks, etc. It tapers slightly towards the front, and the whole thing is in a nice, bold color with neon yellow stripes. You can fit your backpack, suitcase, umbrella, and jacket in the front and still have room. You should also pack an air pump, since the tires are pneumatic.

I can't write down everything that's good, it would be too much, but I also have to mention the customer service. I had a question and received an answer right away.

My conclusion: keep it up and thank you very much. U. Gräf

Navigate rough terrain
The product arrived within days of ordering, which amazed us since it came from Sweden. We are very happy with the product and would recommend it to others needing a mobility device that can navigate rough terrain.

Brilliant product
It has been such a relief to get out and about in the countryside and be active again. It easily copes with different terrains, and the support it provides enables me to walk upright easily, as opposed to previously when I could only go a very short distance without having to sit somewhere. In fact I have not had to stop for a 'recovery sit' at all, but have enjoyed a sit of choice to admire the view. I can easily walk for an hour and have currently done 2.3 miles with no problem. I plan to do much more as the weather improves. Very happy!

I'll just tell you about my experiences :))
Everything positive has already been said in earlier reviews, so I'll concentrate on my experiences here on Coastal Lancashire, with its paths through sand dunes and pine forests.

About me: I'm 84 and had a very active, not to say athletic, lifestyle, so it was a bitter pill to swallow when I developed a balance problem and lost a lot of muscle strength.
Nevertheless, I am determined to continue being as active as possible! So I bought a Trionic Veloped Trek with the 14-inch wheels and all-terrain tyres.

After a cautious initial practise on local urban pavements and navigating the interiors of shops large and small, my next test was to get on and off our MerseyRail trains (still operating very old rolling stock on this line, with a high step up or down). I found a technique: brakes on, pull back to lift front wheel off ground, brakes off and roll in.

I was ready for the pine forest trails; no problems here though long uphill slopes were of course hard work. Going downhill I found tricky as the Veloped tended to yaw as it's not possible to apply both brakes evenly. (Same problem in the city on extended station and department store ramps – a light touch is needed).

I decided to test 'The Beast' by going off-trail, into the pine woods. This offered an altogether tougher challenge; the slopes I could manage with care (not to tip over sideways!) But narrow paths filled with pine cones were hard, even for the 24” wheels, probably because the cones are loose.

The biggest challenge by far is to get through loose sand. Long stretches of loose sand (sand traps!) were very hard indeed for me on one walk but another day I managed a short section to get onto the firm sand of the beach and was rewarded with long stretches of easy walking and glorious views!

I wish I could take some photos of this trip!

On public transport: I've had no problems storing the Trek on our local bus routes but would hesitate to take it on busier city routes.

One note of caution: When putting small items into the pocket at the back of the basket, it's very easy to miss and not realise it's dropped on the floor. Also, the 'rain cover' gets tangled with small items like keys. I haven't worked out how this rain cover is to be firmly fastened at the front when in use.

And so far, I haven't found a use for the extra storage bags provided with the Trek, so I probably should have bought the Tour version, which is a Trek without the extra bags. (I was put off by the illustration, yet they are both the same; the Trek photo just looked more like me).

Thank you
I am now out walking with my neighbour on the quiet local road.

Excellent
Excellent design, high quality components, build quality and packaging.
My Veloped has given me confidence to expand my horizons.
It has already proved to be an invaluable aid to carrying out garden tasks and also provides vital safeguard against losing balance.

Strength required
The Veloped is a very high-quality off-road machine. Unfortunately, I did not have the strength to be able to control and keep the Veloped on the path on either wheel setting. As I had already disposed of the box, I was unable to return the Veloped, and it sits unused. So do, be aware that a reasonable amount of strength is needed. I have ms, and it was just unsuitable for me.

So, so happy
I am so happy with my veloped, it's made walking so much easier. I enjoy being in the countryside , in the woods and tracks. With the usual walker with four corner wheels I found it difficult with stones and roots and branches but the veloped just glides over them all. Full marks for the brilliant disc breaks so firm when on and easy to release. Life is fuller with my veloped.

Veloped Trek
I purchased a Veloped Trek with 14-inch wheels. The delivery was prompt and it was well-packed. The assembly was simple. I have used the Veloped on different surfaces: grass, rough tracks, and paths through a wood. I have a balance problem and it has made it possible for me to walk off-road for the first time in 2 years.

Freedom!
Freedom!
I ordered my Trionic Veloped Trek on a Monday and it arrived in the UK on Friday as promised. It is absolutely marvellous, sturdy and well-engineered, easy to operate and copes with uneven terrain effortlessly. It has given me the freedom and confidence to explore the beautiful forests and beaches in the county where I live, and in 'urban' mode, I can explore the towns and cities too!
Thank you so much

Walks with my wife and grandchildren in the forest and nature like before
Hi,
I just got back from a walk here in Sundsvall close to the new E4 bridge by the bay.
The bridge won't be finished until 2014, so here there are temporary dirt roads mixed with paved segments.
The Veloped worked just perfectly. I was out 45 minutes but took some small breaks a few times on the chair.
I take medication for my blood pressure and clot risk on the metal valve that I got surgically in 2010.
The side effects are now constant dizziness and some difficulties with my balance. Otherwise declared healthy.
I've tried walking poles, but they aren't good enough for me.
My inactivity has led to weight gain and poor shape.
I am 62 years of age but recently retired.
After yesterday's walk, I'm absolutely lyrical.
Am looking forward to walks with my wife and grandchildren in the forest and nature like before.
Thank you for your amazing innovation. It will improve my life and the lives of many others.
I warmly recommend the Veloped to everyone who needs a walking support.

The new life…
As a multi-operated (all parts of the musculoskeletal system) former long-distance runner, I have been given the opportunity to recreate parts of my former life thanks to the Veloped. It gives me support and security in one workout session/day after 12 years of convalescence. Many thanks to Stefan and Johan for their creation that I wish a lot more people in the same situation as me would discover.

Engineered mobility solutions delivered
From my first online chat to taking my Veloped Trek outside the Team at Trionic have been excellent. The support and guidance given; the speed of responses; and the delivery of the Trek make me wish all Companies would take lessons!

The Veloped Trek is every bit as sturdy, well-engineered and built and suited to the terrain where I live (rural) as I had hoped. Thank you for providing the means by which I can stay mobile and (hopefully) keep my illness at bay.

Having used my Veloped Trek a few times my sole criticism is that there is no clip or strap to hold the unit in its folded position ready for lifting into a car perhaps.

I’m 69. Sadly, cancer attacked my spine. I lost the ability to walk, had lots of treatment at Clatterbridge Liverpool, and then home physiotherapist visits. I’m now walking slowly.

Had several walkers, none worked for me, but this one, on the contrary, is simply fantastic. With it, I am now starting to walk outside, have freedom feel and secure stability. Not a problem with it, is so easy to move and get about. I am now starting to get my photography going again.

It’s so light to move and get over curbs and uneven ground. I can walk on again, and always feel in control, plus, if I need a rest, I just put the breaks on, turn around, sit for a while, and then off we go.

Can walk on my own with it and don’t need assistance to walk to and in the park or shop, etc.

Totally satisfied
The Veloped Trek is simply great. It climbs up the kerbs effortlessly and runs perfectly off-road. This is important for me because we have 2 dogs and therefore we also walk in the forest and field.

It's super easy to use as well as to adjust the height, etc. Only the seat could be a bit more comfortable. It is very narrow and therefore not as comfortable as my old rollator.

All in all, I can only recommend it.

Excellent product
This has been a life-changer for me. I suffer from a back problem, which seriously restricted my walking. Using the Trionic Trek I can comfortably walk about 2 miles. I take the occasional rest using the seat which is a bonus. The design and finish of the Trek are high quality and could not be bettered. The two-wheel front design is very clever and manages to climb kerbs and other obstacles easily. The option of city or Trek mode is a bonus. The easy removal of the wheels and the clever folding function allows it to be easily fitted in the boot of my car (Suzuki Vitara). Very pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend the Trek.

Big disappointment!!!
I thought for a long time about buying a Veloped and I decided to take the risk! I wanted it for my vacation in Spain: dry, rocky, stony, and mountainous terrain. Total fiasco! It is not suitable for all terrains as advertised. Difficulty: unable to pass on wet sand and gravel. Narrow paths, footbridges and bridges are impassable because the Veloped is too wide. Going up, down the stairs and overcoming the curbs is impossible, even pushing a little doesn't help. In the mountains, with a side slope, the Veloped is difficult to steer: the front wheels drift and it takes a lot of strength and effort to stay on track and to avoid ending up in the ditch. Driving both front wheels is extremely difficult because the steering is too hard and therefore impossible. I am not very strong physically and I am severely disabled, I was hoping for more relief, instead I reach my physical limits.

The handlebar of the Veloped is too short, not even a dog leash or a shopping bag can be hung on it. The basket is also too small!
Engaging the parking brake is very cumbersome, in fact you need both hands. In the mountains: hold the walker, hold the dog's leash, then put on the brakes too!
Transportation: it is too big for a normal car, then you no longer have space for your vacation suitcases. Added to this is the constant assembly and disassembly of the Veloped, which is very difficult to follow without a person to assist you!
Suitable for flat countryside, but you won't need it there: I have a Topro outdoor walker, which isn't bad either.

Overall, I am very disappointed and sadly I would not buy it back as my wishes remained unfulfilled. It's really a shame!!

Good product, but be careful downhill
This is an excellent rollator for mobility outdoors. I am an MND sufferer who struggles for balance while walking. Before using this product, I normally relied on hiking sticks when venturing outdoors. This rollator has given me more confidence when on long walks in varying terrain, and has also given my wife more relief in not having to always be by my side to ensure I don't fall!

The product is very easy to assemble and to disassemble, and therefore to transport. I was also able to carry it overseas on a flight to Australia recently. I purchased a purpose-made bag in which the disassembled rollator could be easily kept in the hold.

If I have one criticism, it is that when going downhill, the rollator's weight and momentum means that it sometimes gets away from me, so that I have to brake and my feet had to catch up with it on several occasions. Maybe a built-in slowing anti-gravity mechanism could be attached in future designs?

But overall, this is a super product to help liberate mobility compromised people and enable them to live a healthy life outdoors!

Superb Machine
Fed up with supplied walker I invested in the Veloped to have better stability and easier movement over uneven ground. Also require it for fishing trips (fly-fishing on rivers) where I can take over rough ground. It allows me to get more exercise too as it is more robust than my standard walker and I love the bigger 14inch wheels. I get many positive comments from other people.

Great, our Veloped Trek :-)❣️
It was shipped quickly and arrived in perfect condition!
It's very stable/robust and we feel completely safe with it when we go walking on uneven (forest) trails.

It's not cheap, but if you're looking for a really stable rollator, I can only recommend the Veloped!

A purchase for life!

Nice greetings, Katrin und Bernd Seifert

This has proven to be better than expected
I did a lot of research about rollators as I have many disabilities with my base condition being HMS. I also have some cognitive challenges now as well as balance issues and my specialist appointments are not until 2022. Some of my balance issues having me tipping sideways and given I am 5'10" can be very alarming and although the Veloped also lifts one side off the ground with me thanks to its weight I have not landed on my side or indeed hit the ground. Despite its weight, it is easy to push and with the very uneven/bumpy footpaths around my area, this handles them perfectly, stops me getting stuck at kerbs, raised paving slabs etc. I can walk my dog safely and having support to help with hyper flexible joints, arthritis everywhere and dizziness, dislocations and whatever else my body throws at me. This rollator has taken away my anxiety of being outside and using a walking stick which only gave me a single point to pivot on when a joint gave out or dizziness hit.

Great choice
The purchase was quick and easy, fast delivery and super easy assembly.
Highly recommended to all those who love to go for walks in the woods and fields!

Better Than All The Rest
Almost 2 months ago my amazing rollator, the Trionic Veloped 14er M green arrived. The rain didn't stop me from taking my new best friend for a walk. From that moment I've not looked back. I do look forward to going out with it every day. I walk further and faster than I have done for years. Previously I used, and broke, 2 x 3 wheel rollators and 1 seemingly sturdy 4 wheel rollator. They couldn't take the strain.

I am, now, able to wander the woodlands and traverse grasslands too. Simple pleasures which have evaded me for too long. Now, in my 70s, my life is taking its second wind.

My very grateful thanks to everybody involved, in whatever manner, who have, in whatever way, contributed to help me find life outside the home, once more.

Warm regards,
Kelsang Jorlam

S U P E R !
The shipping and the delivery of our Veloped Trek M 14er was completed in 3 days!
So, it was very fast!

Our Veloped was carefully packed and, when we unpacked it, was not damaged! We did not have any problems with the assembly either! See video and videos on YouTube.

The Veloped is very big and might be too bulky for some people.
But if you are looking for a great, stable rollator, I would ONLY recommend the Veloped.
If you have the money, of course, because it is not cheap! The Veloped is robust, and we have a very safe feeling when driving!
So, you do not have to fear that something could break off when you drive over bumps.

I can only say positive things about the communication by email with Mr. Kindberg.

We came to the Veloped because my mother fell and had pain in her knees while walking. My mother was looking for a walking aid, a rollator. We rattled through several medical supply stores and my mother picked one with a backrest. She did not order it yet, but she drove one around in the store and was satisfied.

My sister, though, knew a friend, who had a Veloped for years and never had to repair anything during that time. Her friend is completely satisfied with it.

My sister persuaded our mother to take a look at the friend’s Veloped and to test drive it.
Said and done!

My mother immediately changed her mind and bought the Veloped.
I do not regret buying it for a second and feel very comfortable and very safe with it!

So, I clearly recommend it!

Thumbs Up for Veloped Trek
I suffer from Kennedys Disease and my Veloped Trek has been invaluable to me. I have used it daily for the past 9 months and it has opened up the countryside to me. The Trek is an exceptionally well designed machine that works effortlessly over rough ground. Furthermore, it is light enough to lift easily into the car. It is expensive but has been, for me, worth every penny.

Veloped Trek 14er M
This walker is a real help. Especially when both front wheels run together, I feel well guided while walking straight, and this is important because I am having balance problems and without it, I would easily stumble. Near where I live there are bumpy forest paths with pine roots or gravel, the Veloped goes straight forward and I can safely hold onto it. If I have to go through tight passages, I can easily lift one of the front wheels, so also tight corners are not a problem.
I will send a photo when the weather will be better...

I'm free again...
For a long time, I have not been able to take part in the hikes through our city forest with my beloved Nordic Walking group. I am too insecure even with 2 sticks (artificial knee joint, severe osteoarthritis on the other knee, polyneuropathy! - I am 77 years old).

Now I have the Veloped-Tour with 14er tyres!

(So far, I do not get the whole 1,5-hour tour - but I am slowly getting closer).
It is a revelation - even with the greatest expectation, I could not have imagined it to be so well off-road and safe.
Paths full of roots both uphill and downhill are not a problem. I walk safely, upright and with a view of my surroundings, sometimes chatting with fellow travellers.

I am free again! (a very happy feeling).

Actually, my review would end here
- But I still list the "important" things for me:

• Weight - without wheels no problem, I can easily get it into the car by myself (my trunk is higher, ancient SUV!)
• Wheels - easy to remove and attach with almost just one movement
• Folding mechanism - easy to use - simple to store, fits in lifts, cars, buses, and trains
• Seat - comfortable, good even for longer breaks (with backrest easy to put up)
• Handle height - quickly adjustable with one movement (higher position is better when going downhill)
• Off-road/city mode can be adjusted quickly and easily - works great
• Basket - holds everything important (including medium-sized purchases – and with my Veloped I could even transport very heavy things, up to 150 kg).

"I love my rhino (after rhinoceros): head (wheel) down and run full power!"

And finally:
• Very, very friendly consultancy in German; by phone with Stefan Kindberg
• Delivery: Ordered Tuesday afternoon, arrived Friday noon

Do I need to mention that I will of course order future items again from TRIONIC without thinking twice?

My Trionic Trekker 12 came yesterday…
My Trionic Trekker 12 came yesterday and within 5 minutes had it’s wheels on, a bottle of water in the basket and we were on our first walk off pavement in over 10 years ...wonderful! There were flowers, painted stones someone had left for others to find, and lots of coyote scat. This morning I was on the trail early to explore the nearby wetland preserve. The Trionic functioned beautifully. The dried mud was deeply rutted in some places and the front wheels just found their way among the ruts. Meticulous people design. No problem from my lumbar spinal stenosis, no numb hands, and the old knees were happy. 5.5 miles around the preserve which rather amazes me since without a walker I can only go about 150 feet until pain from the LSS stops me. BTW last night I loaded up the packs with my old ultralight backpacking gear, about 25 pounds worth, to see if I was really going to get backpacking again. Yes!

Whoever packed it for shipping had attached the accessories I ordered and the bags that come with the Trionic Trekker are perfect for my gear.

Great product. Does everything it says it does on the website.

Recieved my Trionic Veloped Trek…
Recieved my trionic veloped trek yesterday, its a bit of a beast compared to usuall rollators but so much easier and more comfortable to use. Today i went on a 2hr walk with my old dog(who approves of the front basket when his little legs are tired), this is the first time in a few yrs that ive been able to do this due to rheumatoid arthiritis. I wish id found out about trionic earlier because they outshine all other rollaters ive tried. Im now looking forward to trying it out on the beach when we go to cornwall in a few weeks time. Its given me a lot more freedom. The delivery was very quick and it was well packaged. Simple to assemble and remove the wheels at the push of a button for easy transportation. The only thing i struggle with is pressing the button to fold it up, due to arthritic hands.

My Veloped has improved my quality of life unbelievably!
Probably a little too early for a full review yet as I have only had my 14” medium nearly two weeks but already it has accompanied me on a two day mountain First Aid Course at Plas-y-Brenin in North Wales where it behaved impeccably clambering over boulders and steps on the forest tracks for the practicals and waiting patiently in ‘Welsh’ rain during classroom time. I could not have done the course without it! It has coped with birdwatching in a Midlands forest tackling tree roots and potholes and though I feared for punctures - so far, so good! Yesterday, I went on a guided walking tour of Glasgow and the seat was a godsend, no lying on the ground to embarrass myself or others as I let the pain subside or listen to the guide. Today it is going boating on Loch Lomond and will fold to fit in the coach. Iona ahead at the weekend, apparently I am not the first person to turn up on this tour with a Trionic Veloped, the organiser said yesterday “Oh I know that one, climbing front wheels, yes you will easily cope ok with that walker!”

Genial
I am completely satisfied with my Veloped. From the first day it felt familiar and increased my ability to move.

I couldn't help but test the Veloped in the most difficult terrain conditions. A very steep narrow forest path with deeply washed-out slots in the middle, which require a planned approach, could still be mastered by my «Rollf».

Now I am curious to see how it will prove itself in continuous use.

Amazing!!
Here the Trek 14er comes in. Unlike regular rollators, it's designed to cope with rough/uneven terrain, it's sturdy enough to support me, yet still lightweight enough for me to lift in and out of my car etc. It has a seat for when I have to stop and rest, and also two very handy bags that can be attached to the Veloped, or removed if not needed. It's a great help for me around the stable yardI'm over the moon with my Trionic Veloped Trek 14er! I have various health problems which impact my life in many ways. I'm still reasonably young at 38, and still lead as active a lifestyle as possible - despite my mobility issues. I enjoy woodland walks, hill walking etc and I'm also a Grade III Para Equestrian dressage rider, so I needed something more stable than a cane or crutches, that could cope with difficult terrain, which is w also, no more carrying heavy buckets or haynets, I just sit them on the Veloped and I'm off! It will also be a fantastic help when away competing - its versatility is second to none! Oh, and did I mention it looks good too?! The Veloped isn't only useful but it's aesthetically pleasing too, dare I say quite stylish! It's given me far more confidence to go out and about by myself too, as the Veloped can carry everything I need. The only down side, in my opinion, is the price... however, it's definitely worth every penny. If you want to get out there in style and with confidence - the Veloped is for you!!
